A special Day : Monday, the 13th of October
It is every year on the 2nd Monday of October Americans celebrate the day Christopher Columbus arrived in the Bahamas in 1492. It is considered to be the discovery of America, but Columbus never actually reached the continent. The word America comes from the Italian explorer, Amerigo Vespucci, who suggested that the land discovered by Columbus was a new continent. |
